Four new journals: News from Virginia, our Serials Librarian

Our library has recently subscribed to 4 new journals. You will find them upstairs in the library, if you need help, talk to our friendly librarians.

The contemporary Pacific a journal of Island affairs
It covers a wide range of disciplines with the aim of providing comprehensive coverage of contemporary developments in the entire Pacific Islands region, including Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia. It features refereed, readable articles that examine social, economic, political, ecological, and cultural topics, along with political reviews, book and media reviews, resource reviews, and a dialogue section with interviews and short essays. Each issue highlights the work of a Pacific Islander artist. More information on this journal can be found at
The library subscribed to it for our Early Childhood course, but it would be of interest to a wide rang of Whitireia Polytechnic courses.

GP Pulse
It is the current affairs magazine of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners. This has evolved from New Zealand Family Physician. “There will be sections on research, explaining the framework the College is seeking to activate, and the GP researchers following the ‘pure NZ’ message” according to the editorial. This is the cover of Issue 1.Fulltext can be accessed online at

The Journal of Primary Health Care (JPHC)

This is the cover of Issue One: March 2009 . Fulltext can be accessed online.
